My experience with Carbon Credentials goes back a few years, from my time at Four Seasons Hotels, to now, at the Sanderson and St Martins Lane hotels for Morgans Hotel Group.
At both companies, CRC compliance was a big milestone that needed to be implemented properly with clear timelines. We realised the need to identify any issues that may arise and effectively overcome them. At the same time, we also wanted to increase our green initiatives, raise energy awareness among the hotels’ employees and, of course, address the consumption levels of all utilities in order to drive cost and carbon footprint reduction.
All CRC compliance requirements were made easy thanks to the expertise of Carbon Credentials. They assisted us with the preparation of all submission data and documentation, including the audit pack and all other steps involved. The professionalism and patience with which the team used to guide us and answer all our questions made us feel comfortable and in control at all times. Our CRC submissions have been flawless over the past 2 years.
Furthermore, our Director of Engineering and I discussed ideas with the Carbon Credentials team and identified ways to share energy / green information through a newsletter to all staff, and we currently implement an energy usage dashboard for the senior management. This dashboard was only possible thanks to Carbon Credentials’ support and help in implementing our idea to upgrade our meters for electricity, gas and water and link them to an online tracking tool.
These new tools and processes enable us to not only monitor consumption, but also to fine-tune usage, identify efficiencies and measure the impact of energy saving capital expenditure, such as LED lighting, converter pumps and voltage optimisation. The Carbon Credentials team also assist us with the analysis of the dashboard, as well as making additional recommendations, thus further contributing to our good relationship.
At Morgans Hotel Group, we enjoy working with Carbon Credentials because of our mutual eagerness to continually maximize energy efficiencies and reduce our carbon footprint. We use each other’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn and evolve over time, which greatly helps us with our varying priorities and focuses as hotel operators.
