Created in 2013, the Carbon Credentials Charity Initiative (3Ci) is our workplace volunteering and charity fundraising scheme, set up and run by Carbon Credentials employees.

As a professional services firm in the sustainability sector, we are keen to have an impact across the three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic and social. Our vision with 3Ci is to showcase the role businesses can play in tackling global issues and delivering sustainable transformational change.

We have voted to support two charities in 2017 – SolarAid and Lymphoma Action – meaning all the money we fundraise through our fundraising activities, such as marathons, auctions, cake sales, and so on, will go to these two fantastic charities.

SolarAid is an international charity that combats both poverty and climate change. They provide access to solar lights in some of the most remote regions of Malawi, Uganda and Zambia. As a result of SolarAid’s work in Africa, 10 million people now have access to safe, clean solar light. Please click here to donate to SolarAid and help them cover the costs of buying and transporting lights to Africa, where they distribute them to head teachers and sales agents in remote locations, who sell them on to people in rural comm

Saturday 15th September marks World Lymphoma Awareness Day; an occasion when 50 countries around the world come together to raise awareness of cancers of the lymphatic system. With lymphoma the fifth most common type of cancer in the UK and around 2,100 new cases every year we are keen to support the aim to raise awareness. This year Lymphoma are running a ‘Small things build confidence’ campaign where patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and people concerned about lymphoma patients are encouraged to share their personal experiences. Find out more on the Coalition Page. Here at Carbon Credentials, as part of our Charity Initiative 3Ci, one of our chosen charities to support is Lymphoma Action. Lymphoma Action raises money to conduct vital research on lymphoma, and to provide invaluable support to both those with the disease and their friends and family.

What are we doing?

To raise money for our two chosen charities, Lymphoma Action and Solar Aid, a team of us are going to be completing the Three Peaks Challenge from the 29th – 30th September 2018. This challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales. With a total walking distance of 23 miles and ascent of 3064 metres, this is a mammoth and exciting challenge.

Whilst this challenge has many benefits including personal achievement, building morale and friendships and supporting staff to develop leadership skills, we are hoping to raise a significant amount for our charities and promote the fantastic work they do. All donations and support would be massively appreciated – please find our fundraising page here.

Sarah Thorn, Lymphoma Action –We are so delighted to be working with Carbon Credentials who have already raised a  fabulous £5000 for Lymphoma Action. We wish all the intrepid walkers involved in the Three Peaks Challenge the best of luck. All these donations help us ensure no one has to face their lymphoma Alone.”

What is planned next?

Keep your eyes peeled for updates from the team during the challenge and progress to our target!
We have a few events planned for the next few months including a Charity Gig Night and our Monthly Meat Free Mondays, with all money raising going to our charities. If you have any further ideas of how we can raise money, please do get in touch!

We give our employees half a day each year for volunteering work. In the past we have supported some fantastic initiatives including:

  • FoodCycle, through which many of our employees regularly volunteer to cook and serve community meals across London.
  • The London Wildlife Trust, where we worked to build a new path in the Woodberry Down Community Wildlife Garden.
  • The Marine Conservation Society’s Great British Beach Clean, where we contributed by clearing rubbish from West Wittering beach.

We have partnered with Ashden, a charity that champions and supports the leaders in sustainable energy to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon world. Ashden’s LESS CO2 programme helps to create more sustainable schools and galvanise young people to join the movement for a low-carbon world. Carbon Credentials is supporting Ashden to measure and verify the impact of its work to help UK schools to save energy, carbon and cost.

Donating our expertise

Our mission at Carbon Credentials is to enable a global low-carbon economy. We believe that we can provide the most value to society by donating our skills and expertise to enable others in line with our mission.

In 2017 we launched our Carbon Credentials Schools Project, to donate our time and expertise to a UK school and its students to identify and implement opportunities for reducing emissions and costs.

With help from our partners, Ashden, we have now selected Hayes School which one of our own employees attended. For the latest update please click here.
